Tito | Australian Shepherd Mix | Santa Monica, CA
Welcome to camp, Tito! Tito is a four month old pup who is staying with us for our three week puppy board and train program. Tito loves to explore and is super playful. We’ll be working on manners and puppy fundamentals in order to better manage and prevent his puppy nipping and growling from accelerating. Stay tuned, while we socialize him during his stay, and teach him the puppy basics of boundaries and completing commands at home and in public.

Training Highlights: We took training to the park today since the rain settled down a bit. we practiced place in order to help build his confidence and he even got to work around 3 other dogs! Even though people walking by thought he was adorable and asked to pet him, I respectfully asked for them to admire from a distance since were working on his boundaries in public and overall manners.

Training Highlights: Tito continues to be his happy go lucky puppy self while understanding the fundamentals of training. He follows the sit command with and with out treats and will follow leash pressure if he’s too distracted. He is super good motivated and has been finishing all of his meals in under 10 minutes. Tito loves to play with my pups and they have been a helpful challenge for him to work around since he would much rather sprint around my yard with them. Overall he is doing great and continues to be sweet and not show any signs of aggression.

Training Highlights: Tito can sometimes get distracted by things that smell interesting so i made sure that i keep him in command and working for short sessions then he can sniff and be curious in order to continue learning how to use his nose. After a few minutes of freedom we go straight back into a structured heel (walk) and practice all commands to get him back into being mentally stimulated.

Training Highlights: Play dates with the other dogs have gone from him being a little bit possessive of the water, bottle and toys, to now allowing other dogs in his bubble. He doesn’t have any issues with me reaching for these things when he is on the leash so it’s important to respect his boundaries and make sure that he is respecting yours . I definitely feel that it’s important to continue to crate train him every night and he should also get some time during the day in order for him to understand that it’s okay for him to be separate from the family at times.

Training Highlights: Since it’s almost time to go home, I decided to make sure that Tito was going home, fresh and clean! There’s also gave me another opportunity to see how he has progressed with baths. The good news is he has made so much progress! He allowed me to touch all around his neck, his paws, and his entire body. The only thing that makes him slightly uncomfortable is the sound of the loud blow dryer, but he still allowed me to do it when I had him tethered. When I moved on to towel drying him, he was very accepting, and even holding a sit command or standing in place.
