Kano | Bull Terrier | Bakersfield, California

Hi there my name is Kano, the Bull Terrier! I am currently One year old and will be joining Off Leash Norcal’s Two Week Board and Train Program! My parents brought me to Off Leash because I need assistance on learning to walk on leash and improve my overall obedience. On leash I can be a bit wild, I tend to drag my owners when they take me out on walks. I come from a loving family where I really get along well with small children and adults! When it’s play time I can get overly excited and can be a bit destructive to the environment I’m in. Stay tuned and keep up with my daily progress!

  • Training Summary: Today we trained over at the park and began introducing the five basic commands with leash guidance. Pressure is only used when we need to guide him into a command. Once he’s on commands, pressure is then released. Kano really loves to sniff the floor and keeps his head down. On heel he must be on your left side.

  • Training Summary: Today we hit a big milestone! I was finally able to drop the leash while Kano was in a sit/down command! He can start off training a bit crazy with all his energy. As we continue to work he begins to acclimate to the environment and is ready to train. I like to start him off with a nice walk!

  • Training Summary: Today we finally did some off leash heel! Kano is a rockstar with his heel command. He stayed on my left side and isn’t pulling! I can trust him to be off leash in this type of environment and he knows to be by my left side. We are continuing to work on his sit and down command with leash guidance. Great work buddy!

  • Training Summary: We took our training to Hollywood Blvd! This environment was really intense for Kano. He was really spooked out by the cars and how close they were. He was unfamiliar with the noises and the large crowds of people. We were able to to work through that mental block. Commands must remain the same, the intensities of his environments change. The more we revisit areas these intense, the more Kano will be desensitized to environments like these. Not too bad for his first time, I’m sure he’ll do better on our second trip.

  • Training Summary: Today we continued to reinforce house manners. He understands there are certain thresholds throughout the house he must respect. For example the front door, Kano must sit and wait for me to lead us out. He does really well with his potty training and has not had an accident indoors. Yay good boy!

  • Training Summary: This was the most distracted area I’ve ever taken Kano too. Lots of people are still shopping during the holidays and this was a really big challenge for Kano. He’s so used to doing things fast and his way. Today’s challenge was to keep things cool and calm. While his environment was so intense, Kano overcame his anxiousness and is able to extend his commands. Great IMPROVEMENT!

  • Training Summary: Kano is performing all commands on and off leash! I trust him to be off leash in places like the park and Lowe’s. On leash he can walk through big crowds of people at the mall! He has a potty routine he’s been following since his day one of boarding. He has never had any accidents in my home, at indoor malls, or even in his crate. He is super handsome and sweet, ultimately he needed some manners. Great work bud!
