Freya | Cane Corso | Lancaster, California
Hey there my name is Freya, the Cane Corso! I am currently 8 months old and will be joining Off Leash Norcal’s Two Week Board and Train Program! My owner brought me to Off Leash Norcal because I need some work on my basic commands, need help building my confidence, and I can utilize some socialization to new environments. I can be a bit timid when out in public. Sudden noises do scare me and force me to be act skittish. I enjoy being at home with my family and get along well with most people my owners socialize me with. Check daily to see my progressive training!

- Training Summary: A great first day of training where we introduced all five commands with leash guidance. We attempted to weigh her on the scale but she was a bit spooked from it. We will try again tomorrow on a fresh start to get an exact weight. She does really well with her sit command. I did notice around my home she was even spooked by the noises the washer and dryers make. We will continue to desensitize her – Great first day!

- Training Summary: Freya is continuing to build her confidence as we train. She can start off a bit timid in new environments. Sudden noises still get the best of her. She also had her first encounter with dogs today! She was really playful in their direction. In order for her to meet other dogs she must be on a command and calm! Great work girl!!

- Training Summary: Tremendous improvement from Freya!! She has gained so much confidence in herself and our bond between us becomes more solid. She was very scared of the elevated place cot. At first she didn’t even want to attempt to get on so I flipped it over flat. We did multiple reps on the flat place cot to build positive association and for her to get a feel for the new surface. After multiple attempts we flipped the cot back to it’s normal elevation and she hopped right up on there! Great work girl! We will continue to reinforce commands and build her positive spirit! Merry Christmas Freya!

- Training Summary: Today we took our training to Hollywood Blvd. It was a huge difference in environments with lots more distractions and unfamiliar noises. At first she was really timid. We had to work through that mental block and train like we’re at the park. Commands mean the same thing everywhere you go, only thing that changes is the intensity of her environment. Great work!

As long as she properly is introduced, she has no issue jumping right up there! The more frequent we practice this, the more confidence she builds performing the command.

- Training Summary: HAPPY NEW YEAR! Freya enjoys being out in public. She does really well at following routine. Since the beginning of training, Freya is let out to go potty at 7am. This prevents her from having any accidents in the house or anywhere else indoors. If we go to the indoor mall, I give her 15 minutes to sniff around a grass area where she can do what she needs to do before going indoors.

- Training Summary: Today we were able to reinforce all commands off leash in my yard before going out to the big distractions. When she’s off leash she has great recall! She’s pretty good about coming back to you when I let her run around in free space. She loads in and out of the van with no problem! Before we go inside a store I give her 15 minutes to sniff and do potty before we go indoors to prevent any accidents (mall, Lowe’s, Home Depot). Tomorrow we will perform off leash commands in a public environment.

- Training Summary: We continue to expose Freya to distracted environments. She does really well and really doesn’t mind what’s going around her. Some loud sounds may spook her here and there but she’s become less skittish. Freya has great recall and I trust her to be off leash in environments I approve for her.

- Training Summary: Freya is doing really well with her commands. She has learned to be patient and accept different boundaries throughout the house. For instance, before we walk out the front door of my house I have Freya sit/down in order to carry on our walk. I can trust having my door open without her attempting to run away. We also were able to get her more dog food today. Great work girl!

- Training Summary: Freya’s three weeks is unfortunately coming to an end! Over the last the three weeks we were able to teach her the five basic commands (heel, sit, down, come, and place). Freya was able to visit all kinds of new places! She can perform all her commands on and off leash! When we’re not training, it’s super fun to see her run around the yard and socialize with my pups. It’s important to socialize her with dogs you trust, and dogs with good energy towards Freya
