Zoe | Cocker Spaniel | Bakersfield, California
Zoe is a 3 month old Cocker Spaniel Pupdate joining us for our Three Week Puppy Board and Train Program. Zoe is a pup and needs to be introduced to the world! Her family describes her as super sweet and always full of energy. She does well around kids but can be nervous with bigger dogs. Over the next three weeks we will create a well balanced foundation of obedience for Zoe to enjoy back home with her family. Stay tuned for her progress!

- Training Highlights: Today we introduced all five commands with leash guidance. She started off a bit confused at the beginning but started to figure the routine out after multiple reps. I use the treat as motivation to guide her and make positive correlations with the commands we want. Great work!

- Training Highlights: It was a hot one so we trained indoors. She loves the place command! For example the place command is great to keep her put when you’re bringing in groceries or cleaning around the house. It’s also a great confidence booster!

- Training Highlights: Great work as she continues to build her confidence in all commands. She does really well with her heel to sit series. She still needs guidance for her down command. Zoe does well for a bit on heel but tends to get distracted after a while. We will continue to improve all commands !

- Training Highlights: It’s a doggy dog world! All the pups got to meet my dogs Freddy and Dante today. They were able to socialize with confident and calm dogs, to keep positive correlations with all dogs. It’s important I let them socialize with dogs I know rather than another random dog at the dog park. Great work!

- Training Highlights: We continue to ease Zoe into more distractions. She is doing well meeting my dogs. I use my dogs as a distraction during her training to emulate seeing other dogs in public. In public if she see’s other dogs, training still should be enforced, and just because she sees another dog doesn’t mean she must meet them, unless the leash handler says so.

- Training Highlights: Zoe loves to be around other dogs. At the beginning she can get overly excited and is a bit invasive. To prevent that I only let her meet dogs when I allow her to and before she greets a dog she must be on a command. For example I have her sit and she must hold the sit until the introduction is over and I release her. This allows her to give a more calm approach rather than being so invasive and disturbing the other dog.

- Training Highlights: We continue to challenge Zoe with different scenarios. In the video she practiced gate manners. Gate/Door manners is when Zoe is on command and a door is opening in front of her, she must remain in command until released. At first she kept getting up and wanting to rush out. After multiple reps and seeing her other peers on command, I was able to keep the gate open and Zoe was far more calm.

- Training Highlights: Zoe gets really excited when she sees other dogs. Today we trained around other dogs, having them as distractions. She is super quick with her commands. I use treats to reward a series of commands. Instead of giving her a treat for every command done, I have her complete a series of commands and give her a big reward at the end.

- Training Highlights: Today we trained over at the Americana where Zoe got to hang out with a ton of people. She also met a new training friend, a Labrador mix along the way. She is very food motivated and really engaged when training. She’s learning to acknowledge dogs from a distance instead of meeting every dog she passes by. This is important because not all dogs are friendly. We will continue to socialize her to new public environments. Keep up the great work Zoe!
