Winnie | Mixed Breed | Tehachapi, California
Hi there my name is Winnie! I’m a young pup and will be joining Off Leash Two Week Community Board and Train Program. My owner sent me here because I struggle walking on leash, I can be destructive in the house, and I need improvements in my overall obedience. I am super friendly when I meet new adults and children. If it’s someone I love, I can get overly excited, and begin to jump on them when I greet them. I love my toys but sometimes they can be boring, so I began to start chewing on the couch, pillows, and my owner’s shoes. Over the next two weeks my trainer and I will develop a well balanced foundation of obedience! Check daily for my pawsitive progress !

- Training Summary: Today we got to introduce all five of the commands Winnie will be learning over the next two weeks. We used leash guidance to introduce heel, sit, down, come, and place. I noticed she can be timid of elevated surfaces. Winnie is super friendly! We will continue to improve on all commands and build her confidence.

She even allowed me to take these cute pics! She is pulling less on heel but can be a bit stubborn with her down command.

She is excellent with her place command! After multiple reps on a new surface, Winnie has gained the confidence to fly up onto the bench! Great work girl!

- Training Summary: Winnie has gained so much confidence with her commands. Both at the park and our neighborhoods walk she was able to hold an extended sit with some distance between her and I. The down command is becoming easier and she is more willing to complete it. She is eating most, if not all of her food and is drinking water regularly. Also her nails were bit long so we took a visit to Going Mutts. They were nice enough to trim her nails to prevent any injury during her training. She behaved really well and her nails are much better. Keep up the great work girl!

- Training Summary: Winnie can be a bit springy when she’s on down command. To eliminate her trying to run away, I knock her onto a hip where she is in a relaxed mind state. She’s really good on leash when on heel!

- Training Summary: Winnie is mastering the place command. She has great confidence and balance to hold her command and allow me to take these cute pics! This environment wasn’t too crazy with distractions so I trust to drop the leash. We’ve been practicing a lot of recall, so when she attempts to run we can get her back. For her safety I only practice off leash commands when were home, on a hike, or just playing ball at the park together.

- Training Summary: Winnie got to meet a new training mate today, Kaya the Husky. They are both really sweet with each other. The two can share water bowls and toys without showing any possessiveness. Every morning we start off our day with a walk to make sure they potty. Winnie isn’t barking at people any more. If a dog barks at her she will become fixated but it’s important to keep moving, as more distractions like that will come. YAY! Great work Winnie!
