Tobi | German Shepherd | Sun Valley, California
Meet Tobi, the German Shepherd! He is nine months and will be joining our Two Week Board and Train Program. Tobi joins us because he is fear aggressive, needs improvement in overall obedience, and needs to be socialized to the outside world. During his stay we will help build his confidence and socialize him to public areas. As of right now he is fear aggressive and must wear a muzzle around people. Stay tuned for his transformation!

- Training Summary: Today we continued to warm up to each other. We trained over at the park where I introduced all five of the commands with leash guidance! He did well going through the commands. He’s still a bit timid, we’ll continue to build his overall confidence.

- Training Summary: Today was a bit better. I was able to bring Tobi in and out of the crate. He can be shy coming out of the crate. We went over all commands and he’s picking up on them fairly fast. He needs lots of confidence building!

- Training Summary: Today we continued to build Tobi’s confidence. I brought him to a minor distracted area so he wasn’t overwhelmed with new people. I noticed he’s scared of elevated surfaces, he doesn’t like to get onto the place cot. Therefore I used this surface to walk him up and down, sensitizing him to different textured surfaces. His heel is much better. He isn’t 100% comfortable yet but he does follow on heel. We must improve his placement on heel and close the gap between us.

- Training Summary: Today we challenged Tobi with some new distraction. Over at the skatepark we focused on mostly extending the commands with these distractions around him. As we continue to reinforce all commands I noticed Tobi is still triggered by sudden noises. This can cause him to act skittish and run away from the issue from fear. We were able to be next to the skaters at a certain distance, not too close or too far.

- Evening Feed: 3/4
- Training Summary: Big improvement today! Tobi finally let me take off his muzzle! We were able to train throughout the day and he begins to trust me more and more. I’m able to pet him without him feeling scared. He walks closer to me when on heel. Great work Tobi!
Pupdate 7:

- Weight: 83.32lbs
- Morning Feed: 3/4
- Evening Feed: 3/4
- Training Summary: Tobi knows all his commands. He’s really good with his down command. We continue to extend each command in new environments. He can still be a bit flighty in new environments. For place command he’s not a big fan of heights, like his doggy bed would be okay for place.
Pupdate 8:
- Date: June 26th 2022
- Weight: 83.66lbs
- Morning Feed: all
- Evening Feed: 3/4
- Training Summary: Today was a great day of training! Tobi is beginning to feel more confident in outside environments. He is holding his down command longer. His behavior is beginning to change for the better. Now he wants to come out of the crate rather than hide away and nip when I get too close. He loves to go in the crate! He loads up on command!

- Evening Feed: 3/4
- Training Summary: At home we were able to practice some off leash work. He does well with his commands off leash. I do worry about taking him off leash because sudden noise can make him jumpy and skittish. If he’s not near me I can retrieve him with the command “come”.

- Training Summary: Today we trained over at Home Depot. Through the store he was able to complete all five of his commands. We started off in the garden area and eventually made our way into the store. Not bad for his first time. His behavior in pubic is only going to get better the more he gets exposed to places like these.

- Training Summary: Another day of distractions. It was a still a bit warm today so we kept it cool and trained over at Home Depot. Today he showed up more confident. Noises like the carts and forklifts still freak him out. For his safety I kept him on leash throughout our visit at the store.

- Training Summary: Today we took our training to Hollywood Blvd! It was a big obstacle for Tobi with all the major distractions. He was very timid throughout our walk. This environment could be too much for him now but the good thing is he’s already exposed to this environment. The different environments he’s exposed too the less timid he’ll be in public.

- Training Summary: Another training session on Hollywood Blvd. We worked in a less traffic area of people and he did much better. Big crowds of people can be overwhelming at first but once he acclimates to the environment he’s much easier to handle. Great job Tobi!
