Roman | Border Collie Mix | Bakersfield, CA
Let’s welcome Roman,
Roman is an 8-month-old Border Collie mix who joined our 2-Week Board & Train program alongside his brother Dexter to work on obedience, impulse control, and overall behavior.
Roman struggles with consistency in listening, often relying heavily on food motivation—and even then, requires extra guidance to follow through. He also gets overly excited when greeting people, leading to jumping and some harmless nipping due to his high energy and enthusiasm.
While Roman does well on walks and shows good leash manners, he has difficulty disengaging during play, especially when things become too rough with his brother Dexter, who tends to “hunt” him during play sessions.
Throughout his program, we are focusing on building reliable obedience without over-dependence on treats, improving his impulse control, and teaching him how to stay calm and respectful during greetings and play. Our goal is to help Roman become a well-balanced, responsive, and mannered companion in all environments.
