Meet Odin! 🐾

Odin is a 6-month-old Pit Bull mix joining us for our 2-Week Board & Train Program. At home, he’s a sweet pup with a solid foundation, but once he’s out in public, all the excitement takes over. He tends to whine when he sees other dogs, pulls heavily on the leash, and has a hard time staying focused on his handler.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be building his engagement, improving his leash manners, and teaching him how to stay calm and responsive in distracting environments. We can’t wait to show you his progress—stay tuned for Odin’s transformation!

Training Highlights :

Today was all about helping Odin settle into his new environment and begin building positive experiences. We focused on safely integrating him into the pack through structured pack walks, where he learned to move calmly alongside the other dogs while staying engaged with his handler. He also enjoyed safe, controlled play sessions that allowed him to socialize appropriately and build confidence around new dogs. Every interaction was carefully managed to ensure he remained successful, and we’re happy to report that Odin had a positive first experience meeting and spending time with unfamiliar dogs. An excellent first day in the books, and we’re excited to continue building on this strong foundation over the next two weeks.

Odin is learning that being around other dogs isn’t just about playing—it’s also about staying engaged and working alongside them. Through structured pack walks, controlled interactions, and obedience around other dogs, he’s building the ability to stay calm, focused, and confident even with distractions all around him. He’s getting along great with the pack, making positive social connections, and learning that he doesn’t have to be overly excited every time he sees another dog. The down command has been one of the biggest challenges for Odin, but with consistent repetitions and patience, he’s making great progress every day. We continue to build his understanding by keeping training sessions structured and rewarding him for making the right decisions. One area where Odin has shown tremendous improvement is his leash manners—he’s becoming much calmer, more engaged, and easier to handle during walks. Since he’s highly food motivated, we’re using that to our advantage, making training fun while reinforcing the behaviors we want. Every session builds more confidence, and it’s exciting to see him continue putting the pieces together.

Odin continues to make great progress as we reinforce his obedience and build better overall manners in everyday situations. He’s an incredibly playful, social dog who genuinely enjoys making new canine friends. His preferred play style is chasing and a bit of rough-and-tumble wrestling, so it’s important to carefully pair him with dogs that are confident, enjoy that same level of play, and can communicate appropriately. By giving him structured social interactions with the right dogs while continuing to hold him accountable to his obedience, we’re helping him learn when it’s time to play, when it’s time to settle, and how to make good decisions around other dogs. He’s becoming more balanced, social, and responsive every day.

Today we continued working on Odin’s biggest challenge by exposing him to dog distractions in a controlled environment while building positive associations through training. Instead of allowing him to become fixated or overly excited, we focused on having him perform obedience commands around other dogs, reinforcing that staying engaged with his handler is rewarding. Odin is continuing to make great progress—he’s not only learning how to play appropriately with other dogs, but also how to remain calm, think through situations, and work confidently in their presence. Being able to switch from play mode to training mode is a huge step in his development, and he’s showing more self-control and focus with every session. Great work, Odin!

Today Odin took on his first real-world training outing at Lowe’s, and he did an awesome job for his first experience in a busy environment. With people, carts, noises, and plenty of distractions around, he was able to confidently perform his sit and heel commands while staying engaged throughout the session. His down command is still proving to be his biggest challenge, but that’s completely okay—we’re putting in consistent reps every single day to build his confidence and reliability. Every outing gives us another opportunity to reinforce the behaviors we want, and Odin continues to make steady progress. Great first day at Lowe’s, and we’re excited to keep building on this foundation!

Odin is making great progress, and the down command is becoming much more consistent with every training session. We took him on his first outing to Target, where he did an excellent job staying engaged and focused despite all the new sights, sounds, and distractions. His leash manners have improved significantly as well, making our walks much more enjoyable and controlled. Public outings like these are a great way to reinforce obedience in real-world environments, and Odin continues to build confidence while learning that paying attention to his handler is more rewarding than the distractions around him. Today we took Odin to Hollywood to continue building his confidence around real-world urban distractions. With busy sidewalks, traffic, loud noises, and plenty of people passing by, it was the perfect environment to challenge his obedience while reinforcing calm behavior. One thing that’s become very clear is how much Odin loves people—he’s naturally social and enjoys meeting new faces, so we’re continuing to teach him how to stay focused and engaged despite the excitement. His down command has improved significantly with consistent repetition, and he’s becoming much quicker and more reliable with it. On top of that, his leash manners continue to get better every day, allowing him to walk calmly and confidently through busy environments. Great work today, Odin!

This helps build a strong understanding that listening pays off, even in exciting environments. Odin continues to make steady progress with his focus, engagement, and overall confidence in public. Today we started adding more dog distractions into Odin’s training, giving him the opportunity to make new play friends while also learning to stay focused around new training buddies. He’s done an awesome job balancing socialization with obedience, and it’s been great to watch his confidence continue to grow. His down command has improved tremendously since day one—it comes much more naturally now. With the behavior becoming more reliable, we’re shifting our focus to building longer duration in the down, even with other dogs nearby. Odin has come such a long way in a short amount of time, and his progress is a direct result of consistent training and hard work. Great work, buddy!

Before heading home, we took Odin to Hollywood for another real-world training session to continue building his confidence around people and busy environments. He’s made a lot of progress and is much more comfortable working through crowds while staying engaged with me. The down command is still something we’re continuing to work on, and he occasionally needs a little extra guidance, but he’s improving with each outing. Overall, Odin did a great job walking calmly on leash, maintaining a nice heel, and responding well to his sit command despite all the distractions. Every trip out helps reinforce his obedience and confidence, and he’s continuing to make steady progress.

Odin continues to make great progress as we reinforce all of his obedience commands each day. He’s becoming more consistent and confident with his training, and while the down command is still his biggest challenge, he’s improving with a little leash guidance and clear communication. Socially, he’s doing an awesome job and has made plenty of new friends during his stay. Here he is hanging out with Bear, the mini Goldendoodle, continuing to build positive experiences around other dogs while learning to stay calm, focused, and obedient in exciting environments. Every session is helping Odin become a more confident, well-rounded dog.
