Frank | Pitbull | Bakersfield ,California

Hello everyone! Please welcome Frank into OlK9. He is here with us for a two week board and train program in order to help build his confidence in public, learn better manners, and master commands anywhere he goes. Frank also struggles with fearfulness in public, and dog reactivity due to his littermate brother George, who bullies him at home sometimes when they are having disagreements. During our two weeks together, training with Frank, he will learn how to become a well mannered dog everywhere he is and build reliable obedience!

Frank had a good day of training today! His confidence is slowly growing and he is starting to trust his trainers more. So far, Frank hasn’t been finishing all his meals, and sometimes will not eat right away. This may be an effect of him not feeling comfortable in our house yet. Frank has a pretty good understanding of his commands, but still needs practice completing them when asked.

Frank is progressing daily throughout his training journey, and his confidence is rising slowly but surely. Today we worked on our basic commands in front of the store and my home. Frank is still struggling with fearfulness in public, but is beginning to trust his trainer and work around distractions a lot better.

Frank is making steady progress so far in out training journey! He is getting better at walking in the heel position and completing all of commands. Frank has been such an amazing dog so far, but as much as I would love to say he’s perfect, the only thing he struggles with is the timing he does things and getting up out of the kennel. I am continuing to work with Frank every day in order to build his confidence in public.

Frank has shown improvement in our training today, he is progressing at his own pace. Today we practiced our basic commands while walking in public, Frank is getting better at completing his commands in a timely manner and is even starting to eat more! One thing i’ve noticed today was when i took Frank out to potty, his stool had an unusually loose and dark look to it. It didn’t seem like Frank’s stool carried any parasites, but is definitely something to keep an eye out for.

We kept training pretty light for Frank today since he is not feeling the best right now. Frank seems to be experiencing symptoms of gastritis, which may be a product of his liver issues. Frank is getting his commands down but is struggling to complete them due to him having some stomach pains, and a slight limp that began this morning. I have been providing supportive care for Frank such as making sure he is hydrated 24/7 and administering tablets of omeprazole, provided by his owner. We are looking forward to helping Frank pull through his struggles and finish his training as a healthier, and happier dog.

Today Frank seems to be feeling a lot better! He is moving around much faster and is no longer showing signs of being in pain. Today Frank practiced his basic commands out in front of the grooming salon, where he shown progress in his training and energy. Frank still doesn’t have much of an appetite, but we are still trying various methods in order to make him eat more. Stay tuned to watch Frank pull through in order to complete his two week board and train!

Today we took a trip with Frank to Home Depot, where he learned how to stay close in the heel position while walking around various distractions. Frank is showing more energy today and seems to be starting to feel a lot better. One thing i have noticed on Frank is a small lump on his left hindlimb, about the size of a quarter, which may be bothering him. I recommend taking Frank to his regular veterinarian in order to find out exactly what the mass is. I am still very proud of Franks growth in confidence, trust in his trainers, and overall progress so far.

Today we focused on just completing our basic commands around our neighborhood. Franks attitude has shifted into becoming more positive and he is starting to enjoy coming out to train with us. His health seems to be getting better although he has recently developed a small elbow hygroma, which is a non painful, fluid filled swelling; as a consequence from sleeping on his right elbow. I am providing supportive care for Frank as we complete his board and train program and have provided him with softer bedding in his kennel in order to help his elbow. Other than that, he has only been showing progress and will continue to grow while he is with us.

Today we focused on our basic commands around the grooming salon. This morning before heading out for training, I noticed a small, purulent rash developed on the bottom of Franks neck. Since then I have began providing supportive care towards the rash and decided to only using the slip lead for Frank. One thing happened during our training today which was very unusual from Frank, he got upset and began trying to bite at my legs as he was completing commands. While having this short moment, Frank was still able to complete some of his commands, and then was fitted with a muzzle for safety per cautious. This behavior seemed very unusual from Frank, but as soon as he relaxed we were able to successfully complete our training session on a great note!
