Dallas | Great Dane | Northridge, California

Dallas, the Great Dane will be joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program. He was brought to us because he struggles with basic obedience, leash manners, and manners in public. With Dallas walks aren’t fun, he is super strong and tugs the leash with his owners. In the neighborhood if he sees a dog he will bark at them with the intentions of meeting them and wanting to play. He struggles in public environments because he gets easily distracted, making it difficult to control him. Over the next two weeks we will create a well balance foundation of obedience for Dallas to enjoy back home with his family. Enjoy his transformation!

  • Date: July 26th 2022
  • Weight: 104.46lbs
  • Morning Feed: 3/4
  • Evening Feed: 3/4
  • Training Highlight: It was a hot one so we went to train indoors at the mall. It was a shocking environment for him to be in. I try and limit Dallas from being out in the sun too long because his skin begins to get agitated. It’s best we train early mornings and late evenings. Today we introduced all five commands heel, sit, down, come, and place. He was around small crowds of people but wasn’t as distracted as I expected.  I noticed dogs seems to be more of his issue than humans. He will bark at dogs in my neighborhood if they’re behind a fence and barking at him. He still has lots of work to do but not too bad for his first day. Great Job Dallas!

  • Training Highlight: Today we switched up the environment and trained over at the park. Dallas faced new distractions, like kids playing, bikes and cars passing him by. He is improving on his manners with other dogs. Every dog he sees he feels he must greet them. We want to teach him when were on walks we can pass by dogs and not always give them a reaction. He is doing much better on heel. He limits the pulling on the leash. He loves the crate, he goes in and out of it much better.

  • Training Highlight: We continue to reinforce all commands. Good news is he finished all of his food for breakfast and dinner! He has had some socialization with my personal dogs from a safe distance. If we’re walking through my neighborhood and he sees a dog he still gets worked up. He still requires leash guidance for the down command.
