Bingo | Mini Australian Shepherd | Bakersfield, California
Meet Bingo! Bingo, the Mini Australian Shepherd is 6 months and will be joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program. He join us because he counter surfs, jumps on people, play nips, and can play a little too rough. He is great around kids and is super friendly with new people. Over the next two weeks we will socialize him with the outside world and create a well balanced foundation of obedience for Bingo to enjoy back home with his family!

- Training Summary: Over at the park we went to see a softball game. There were lots of new noises and distarctions which challenged Bingo. He is improving on all his commands. His heel is really tight. He does struggle with extending his commands at times. We will increase the distractions and continue to reinforce all commands.

- Training Summary: We continue to reinforce all the commands with Bingo. He is naturally really excited so we are teaching him to channel that energy into a command. The commands are a great way to redirect his attention. If he’s fixated on something I’ll redirect him into a command so now his mind shifted on focusing on completing the command rather than the distraction.

- Training Summary: Today we worked on off leash heel and other off leash commands. We started him off in a gated area in my house to familiarize him with being off leash. I started off guiding him with the leash to make sure he was completing the commands then I began the off leash. It wasn’t so bad for his first time being off leash. We will continue to increase his distractions and improve his commands off leash.

- Training Summary: Today we challenged Bingo by taking him shopping to Home Depot. He was very excited to see so many people. Off leash he can be little flighty when he gets too excited. He does great on leash! We worked on the place command, teaching him to stay in a designated area until released. As we continued to complete more reps his confidence boosted and he was holding the command longer. His focus in training has improved. He’s more focused on me than the distractions at the store today. Great work Bingo!

- Training Summary: Over at the Americana Bingo faced so many distractions. He was a bit nervous to all the new noises which made him a bit skittish. For the safety of Bingo I keep him on leash in public environments like these just because a sudden noise may trigger him to run away. On leash he heels great and performs all the commands. I want him to gain positive experiences from these new environments to build his confidence so he can explore new places. His recall is great so I am able to retrieve him. He’s stopped the anxious barking and is doing great with his crate manners.

- Training Summary: We headed to another shopping center where Bingo was socialized with more people. He got to hangout with his new friend the German Shepherd. Today we really reinforced all commands on leash in public. He gets really excited with kids but he’s calmed down with the jumping. When he’s fixated I redirect him into a command. He’s doing great going in and out of the crate. We also got a chance to practice gate manners. As I was taking my trash cans to the street I had my gate fully open with Bingo holding a down command.

- Training Summary: Bingo is almost done with his board and train and we continue to socialize him with public distractions and reinforce his commands. He’s always full of energy and ready to train. He performs all commands on and off leash. Being these environments are all new to him he can still be skittish when he hears new noises. I wouldn’t want it to be his first and last time to an environment like this. Therefore I keep him on leash in these environments so he can build confidence and tolerate these new distractions.
