🐾 Meet Buddy!
Buddy is an 8-month-old Border Collie who has joined our 2-Week Board & Train Program here at Off-Leash K9 Training Bakersfield.
Like many young, high-energy dogs, Buddy has been struggling with:
Pulling on the leash
Separation anxiety
Chewing and destructive behavior
Jumping on family members
During his time with us, we’ll be focusing on building clear communication, structure, and obedience. Buddy will learn commands like sit, down, heel, place, and come, while also developing better impulse control and calmer behavior at home.
Our goal is to give Buddy the tools he needs to be a well-mannered, confident, and enjoyable companion for his family.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training with Buddy focused on introducing light leash pressure. We kept things calm and clear, helping him understand how to follow gentle guidance without resistance. Buddy is starting to make the connection and showed good progress as the session went on. With continued consistency, this will help build better communication and smoother leash work moving forward.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training with Buddy focused on duration commands, and he made solid progress. Buddy showed a good understanding of what was being asked and was able to stay composed even as we increased the duration. We’ll continue reinforcing this to help strengthen reliability in more distracting environments.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training with Buddy focused on the place command. He did a solid job learning to settle in one spot and remain there until released. We worked on building duration and reinforcing calm behavior, and he showed good progress staying relaxed and focused throughout the session.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training we took a walk around the block with Buddy and his new friend Chooch. Both dogs did a great job staying engaged and working through their commands while out in the neighborhood. It was a good opportunity to build their focus around mild distractions and continue strengthening their leash manners together.
