Penny | Vizsla | Bakersfield, California

Meet Penny! Penny is a 6 month old Vizsla from Bakersfield, California who will be joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program. She comes to us because she is difficult to walk on leash and nips when she is overly excited. On the other hand, her family describes her as very lovable, a great companion, and super playful. She loves to play with kids and run around with other dogs. Over the next two weeks we will build a great foundation of well balanced obedience, for Penny to enjoy back home with her family!

  • Training Summary: Today at the park we went over all commands. We introduced the e-collar and so far she’s doing well with it. She’s very smart and is understanding the concept of heel really well. On walks Penny must be on your left side, closest to your left leg. At the beginning of training sessions she’s such a big ball of energy. Instead of going crazy, we’re teaching her to utilize that energy to perform commands and teaching her there is a time and place for certain things. She can be a bit unsure to place onto new surfaces. If it’s a new surface I guide her with a leash so she knows it’s safe and gains confidence. She loves park time!

Shopping carts and other moving objects would startle her. She gets distracted by people and wants to meet everyone. Overall it was a great training session because she was around new distractions, socialized with people, and trained in a new environment. She is progressing with her food manners. Today she waited patiently for her food and managed her energy well. We will continue to increase her distractions and keep her cool throughout the remainder of her training.
