Chase | Belgian Shepherd | Bakersfield, California

This is Chase, the Belgian Shepherd! He is six months and will be joining our Two Week Rehabilitation and Obedience Program. Chase comes from a super loving family who describes him as playful and super energetic. He will be joining us because he is human and dog aggressive. He is super protective of his family which leads to him barking and lunging. Over the next two weeks we will improve his obedience and socialize Chase with the outside world. Stay tuned for his progress!

  • Training Summary: Today we started off training introducing all 5 commands (heel, sit, down, come, place). Using leash pressure I was able to guide him into the commands. I socialized him with friendly dogs to feel him out. He can be reactive when meeting new dogs. He does improve once he feels comfortable. He’s been eating all of his food and is intaking water normally. It was hot today so we train early in the morning and a couple times later in the evening once it was cool. We will continue to rehabilitate Chase throughout the week, great first day!

  • Training Summary: Today Chase made big improvements. We are able to work with and without a muzzle. He is very protective of his leash handler. He becomes fixated on people around him in his environment. I correct it and redirect him into a command (sit or down). He got a lot better. On this hike we were able to pass by hikers and dogs. He would look at them but didn’t bark. His heel is really great!  Great work Chase!

  • Training Summary: Great day of training today! It was a hot one so we trained multiple times in the morning and at night. On our night walk Chase was able to practice some off leash heel! He follows me when we walk and does his commands off leash. He does well holding all commands! He still needs improvements with his temper when greeting new people.

  • Training Summary: Today was a great day of training. It was a fresh day so we headed over to the lake. Chase loves the water! We got walk around the lake both on and off leash. Today at the store he did have an incident with a stranger. Chase was on leash at Home Depot when a random person approached us. Chase acted in a very protective manner. No one was hurt, he gets triggered when he’s being approached. We need to be mindful to where we take Chase. He can be in these environments and we must be advocates for Chase to make sure wherever we decide to take him he will always leave safely! Great work Chase!
