Bella | Golden Doodle | Bakersfield, CA
Meet Bella, a sweet 2-year-old Goldendoodle joining us for a two-week training program! Bella already has a great foundation—she’s friendly with both people and other dogs and loves being part of the action. During her stay, we’ll be focusing on refining her manners, improving her responsiveness to commands, and helping her become more attentive to her owners in a variety of environments. A major focus of Bella’s training will be leash walking. We’ll be teaching her how to walk calmly and confidently by her handler’s side while reducing pulling and increasing engagement. We’ll also be working toward reliable recall, stronger basic obedience skills, and building the focus needed for both on-leash and off-leash freedom.
Our goal is to give Bella’s owners greater peace of mind by creating a dog that is easier to handle, more responsive, and eager to follow through with commands both at home and out in public. We can’t wait to watch Bella grow over the next two weeks!
Pupdate 2
Bella is settling in nicely and had a great second day of training! Today we introduced our “follow the leader” game to help build engagement, focus, and a better understanding of working together as a team. She’s doing a great job learning to pay attention to her handler and is starting to naturally check in more often. We also spent time working on leash pressure, and Bella is beginning to understand how to respond to guidance instead of resisting it.

Great work today Bella! We worked on place command in the yard and continuing to build a better understanding of the ecollar. While she does automatically down at times when the button is pressed (likely from past experience) I am giving her the opportunity to complete commands the first time asked without a tap then guide her with the leash and collar for the second ask to ensure a solid sit or down.

Bella absolutely crushed her hiking adventure today! 🥾🌲
Not only did she handle the trails with confidence, but she also got to showcase the off-leash skills we’ve been building throughout her program. From checking in naturally, staying engaged, and responding when called, she proved that freedom comes from trust, communication, and consistent training.

She worked at the park around other dogs while staying engaged and responsive, completing commands and maintaining a nice heel despite the distractions. Learning how to focus around exciting environments is a huge part of building a reliable companion.
After putting in the work, she got to enjoy some well-deserved playtime and freedom. Balance is important—training, structure, and then getting to be a dog. 💛

A big focus of her training has been e-collar conditioning and helping her build a positive understanding of what it means. She’s learning that the e-collar isn’t something to be concerned about—it’s simply a communication tool that helps guide her and provide clarity.
As her understanding grows, so does her freedom. Bella is starting to realize that responding to cues and making good choices allows her to enjoy more off-leash opportunities both at home and in public. It’s been great watching her become more confident, independent, and reliable while still staying connected to her handler.

☀️💦 Fun in the sun for Bella today! After putting in the work during our training session, Bella earned some well-deserved social time with her friends. We cooled off with water play, practiced building confidence around new experiences, and worked on sharing toys with other dogs.
She did a great job balancing excitement with good manners and showed off her growing social skills while having an absolute blast. Training and fun go hand in hand, and Bella is learning that making good choices leads to more freedom and more adventures! 🐾💕

Bella joined me for lunch today and was the definition of a perfect patio pup! 🐾☀️
We spent some time at a restaurant working on calm public manners, and she absolutely nailed it. Bella settled right into a down, enjoyed the cool air, sipped on some water, and relaxed comfortably by my side for over an hour.
These outings are about more than just obedience—they help build patience, neutrality, and the ability to simply exist in public without needing constant entertainment. Bella is becoming such an easy companion to take anywhere, and she’s making great progress every day! 🩷

Field trip day for Bella! She did amazing showing off all of her skills! We practiced all of her commands with plenty of distractions around, working with lots of freedom and minimal leash involvement. She stayed engaged, responsive, and showed off how much her reliability is improving in public settings. So proud of this girl! 🌟
