Leo's Story: Two Weeks, and a Labradoodle Who Listens Off Leash

Where Leo started

Leo is a Labradoodle. His owner brought him to us for the two-week off-leash board and train, and set his expectations where most people set them, which is to say cautiously.

His review opens by saying the results "exceeded my expectations," which only means something because he clearly had some.

The training journey

Leo lived and worked at our Bakersfield facility for two weeks. Commands are built first, then proofed off leash, then tested in the situations where they normally fall apart.

Pickup day is a session in its own right, not a handshake at the door. Jesse walked his owner through e-collar use properly and gave him tips for keeping it going at home, and a second member of the team demonstrated heel, walk, sit and stay so he could see what the finished behavior is supposed to look like.

Then there is the part that does not fit on a price list. When he had questions after getting home, he called, and Jesse called him back with answers. His words: "Their commitment to follow-up support is outstanding."

What actually changed

• He responds to every command. His own words: "perfectly to all commands."
• He loads into the truck on his own. A small thing that anybody who has wrestled a dog into a vehicle will recognize.
• His owner can use the e-collar properly. Which is the difference between a tool and a gadget.
• Support did not stop at pickup. Questions answered by phone, after the program ended.

What it changed at home

He described the result as making "a significant difference in Leo's behavior," and he made a point of the team's "professionalism and genuine care for both dogs and their owners."

The second half of that sentence is deliberate on our part. A program that trains the dog and ignores the human produces a dog who behaves for two weeks.

Why Leo's story matters to us

Off-leash reliability is the thing our name promises, so it is fair to ask what it actually buys you. It buys a dog who can be out of the house without being on the end of a rope: at the park, on a trail, in the yard with the gate open, next to a truck door.
