Mac | Belgium Malinois | Bakersfield, CA

Meet Mac – 4 Week Rehabilitation Program Mac is a 1.5-year-old Belgian Malinois who has officially joined our 4-Week Rehabilitation Board & Train Program here at Off Leash K9 Training Bakersfield.

Like many young working breeds, Mac is an incredibly intelligent and driven dog, but he has been struggling with some behavioral challenges that have made life stressful for both him and his family. Mac has displayed nipping behaviors toward people, shows insecurity around unfamiliar dogs, and can become reactive or aggressive toward both dogs and humans when he feels uncomfortable or unsure of a situation.

Over the next four weeks, our focus will be on helping Mac build confidence, develop better impulse control, and learn how to make calmer decisions around distractions. We will be working extensively on:

✔ Building engagement and trust with his handlers

✔ Addressing nipping and inappropriate interactions with people

✔ Improving social neutrality around dogs and strangers

✔ Structured obedience with clear rules and boundaries

✔ Confidence-building exercises and environmental exposure

✔ Reliable on-leash and off-leash obedience

Mac’s owners would ultimately like him to enjoy greater freedom while remaining safe and under control, including extended off-leash reliability around distractions and a solid off-leash heel.

The Belgian Malinois is one of the most athletic and intelligent breeds in the world, but without proper structure and guidance, those traits can sometimes create unwanted behaviors. Our goal is to help channel Mac’s energy and drive into productive behaviors while creating a more confident, balanced, and obedient companion.

We are excited to watch Mac’s transformation over the next four weeks. Stay tuned for updates as he progresses through his rehabilitation journey!

Welcome to the Off Leash K9 family, Mac! 🐾
