Rambo | Pomeranian | Bakersfield, CA
Rambo is a 4-month-old Pomeranian who is currently working on building strong foundations in potty training, basic obedience, and learning how to stay focused around everyday distractions. At this age, the goal is helping him develop consistency, confidence, and clear communication with his handlers.
He is very friendly with people and enjoys human interaction, sometimes a little too enthusiastically, so part of his training focuses on channeling that excitement into calm greetings and better impulse control.
Rambo hasn’t had much exposure to other dogs yet, so his social behavior is still developing. During initial observations, he has shown some nervousness around another small dog, along with a few hiding or avoidant behaviors when he feels unsure. Because of this, we’re taking a slow, confidence-building approach to dog exposure, helping him learn that new environments and dogs can be safe and positive experiences.
Overall, Rambo is a sweet, social puppy who is still figuring out the world. With continued structure, positive exposure, and clear guidance, the goal is to help him grow into a confident, well-mannered companion both at home and in busier environments.

Training Summary: Rambo’s first official day of training consisted of simple tasks, understanding leash guidance, to come when called and learning a sit. An end goal would be for him to complete the sit the first time asked and around distractions for a duration of time, he currently has an understanding but is super excited and has a short attention span.

Training summary: Rambo met my pup yesterday and was initially pretty intimidated but is gaining more confidence daily. After a walk he was tired but more willing to practice commands in the house like recall, sit and off. He has had some success with potty training and hasn’t had any overnight or crate accidents but has peed a few feet away from the pads or not interested in going outside if we are only out for short durations.

Training summary: Indoor training session for Rambo today, working on building confidence individually and around another dog. He is building up more confidence daily and learning to focus on work rather than his distractions. He did such a great job responding to sits and holding them without any leash pressure or guidance to the body. He had one potty accident inside after he was too nervous to go outside but has otherwise done great!

Check out little Rambo making friends! His confidence has grown so much, on day 1 there’s no way he would have considered standing anywhere near another pup, let alone dogs of this size. He’s no long hiding or running away, he even starts play now when he has free time with the other dogs

Rambo worked on his heel and duration sits around the elementary school today. There were a lot of distractions like kids playing and loud noises. He showed a little hesitancy at first, but with structure he stayed by my side and worked through it well. We focused on holding position and ignoring distractions, and he did a great job staying engaged.

Inside the house we’ve been focusing on impulse control and learning how to settle. Rambo has been spending time tethered so he can practice relaxing instead of constantly moving around or seeking stimulation. This helps him learn that calm behavior in the house is expected. He’s starting to choose his place command on his own as a comfortable spot to relax, which is great to see and shows he’s beginning to understand it as his calm space.
Potty training is going really well. After coming out of the crate I take him outside on leash and he’s consistently going potty right away, which means he’s starting to build a clear routine and understanding that outside is where he should go.

Rambo has been working on his basic foundations like sit, down, place, and walking on leash. Being a young puppy, he definitely has a shorter attention span and can get a little distracted, but he’s showing a really nice understanding of what’s being asked of him. We’re keeping sessions short and productive so he stays engaged and successful. Each day he’s starting to connect the dots more and respond quicker to the commands we’ve been practicing.

We’ve also been working on Rambo’s demand barking and helping him learn how to settle better when he wants attention. Instead of responding to the barking, we’re rewarding calm behavior so he starts to understand that quiet and relaxed is what gets him what he wants. We’ve also added more structure around his meals by having him work for his food during training sessions. This is helping build engagement and motivation, and he’s starting to finish his meals after earning them rather than letting the food sit out untouched throughout the day.
