KANE | CANE CORSO | BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA

Say hello to Kane, a 6-month-old Cane Corso with a heart as big as his paws. Kane has just joined us for our two-week Board & Train Program, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him.

Even though he’s still a puppy, Kane already shows a calm and loving temperament. He’s gentle in nature, affectionate with people, and eager to please. Like many young dogs, he just needs a little help building his confidence and learning how to better communicate with his humans.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be focusing on:

  • Confidence building so Kane feels comfortable in new environments and situations.
  • Clear communication between him and his owners to strengthen their bond and make training more effective.
  • Continued reinforcement of good manners, both at home and in public.

We can’t wait to share Kane’s journey with you—from his first day with us to his amazing transformation at graduation. Stay tuned for updates, training tips, and lots of adorable photos of this sweet boy in action.

Kane’s story is just beginning, and we’re honored to be a part of it. 🐶💛

I’m introducing all of Kane’s commands through leash guidance, establishing it as our new form of communication. This method gives him clear, consistent direction and helps him understand exactly what I’m asking for. Kane is easing into the process extremely well—picking up on the cues, responding with focus, and showing steady progress each day. It’s great to see him building both confidence and trust through this approach. Great work, buddy!

Training Highlights:

Kane had the opportunity to meet my dog, Danté, a Belgian Malinois, in a carefully structured and positive setting. This interaction was aimed at building Kane’s confidence around a neutral dog—one that remains calm and does not react to his presence—helping him learn how to navigate such encounters with ease. The introduction went smoothly, providing Kane with a valuable experience that reinforced his ability to remain composed and comfortable in the presence of other dogs. Excellent progress today—great work, bud!

Kane had a big day today as he met a new dog, Merlin, and handled the introduction really well. He’s continuing to make progress in learning how to socialize appropriately and is steadily building his confidence around the dogs I introduce him to. Each new interaction gives him a chance to grow, and it’s clear he’s becoming more comfortable and sure of himself in these settings. On top of that, his responsiveness to commands is improving, making communication between us smoother every day. Great work, bud—your growth is showing in all the right ways!

Training Highlights:

Commands are becoming much easier for him as he continues to make progress. Slowly but surely, we’re extending the duration and distance of all commands, which is helping him build consistency and confidence. I’ve even been able to drop his leash and introduce some moving distractions, and he’s handling them really well. It’s clear that the practice is paying off—great work and steady improvement every step of the way!

Training Highlights:

Things are really starting to come together with Kane’s training. Today we focused on continuing to master the “place” command, and he is showing incredible progress. What stands out the most is how motivated he becomes during our training sessions—he’s eager to learn and quick to pick things up. Instead of rewarding him for every single command, we’ve shifted our approach to rewarding calm and composed behavior. This not only reinforces obedience but also teaches him to remain steady and relaxed, which is just as important as executing commands. It’s great to see his growth and how much more balanced he’s becoming through this process.

Kane is really starting to shine in his training. He’s mastering his commands and showing impressive progress with recall, proving that he listens and responds quickly even in different situations. His confidence around other dogs has grown tremendously, and it’s clear how far he has come since the beginning of his journey. With such a solid foundation built, the next step is to challenge him with real-world distractions, giving him the opportunity to apply everything he’s learned in more dynamic and unpredictable environments.

Training Highlights:

Kane continues to make steady improvements, and today we took his training to a new setting by visiting Lowe’s. This was an important step because Kane tends to be very reactive around kids—not in an aggressive way, but more out of curiosity and intrigue. He’s drawn to their energy and movements, which can make it challenging for him to stay calm and focused. By exposing him to this busy environment in a structured way, we’re helping him learn how to take it all in without becoming overstimulated. To make the experience positive, I incorporated play and engagement, allowing him to soak up his surroundings in a fun and rewarding way. Each outing like this helps him grow more confident and teaches him how to remain composed in real-world situations.

Training Highlights:

Day two at Lowe’s was all about continuing to reinforce good behavior and solidify commands in a busy public setting filled with distractions. He’s showing steady improvement, holding focus and responding well even with all the hustle and bustle around him. While he still gets overly stimulated at times, especially when kids are nearby or when people move quickly past him, these moments are valuable opportunities to practice self-control and redirect his attention back to the task at hand. Each visit helps him grow more confident and reliable, and the progress he’s making is clear—he’s well on his way to mastering calm, consistent behavior in real-world environments.

Training Highlights:

Kane continues to make great progress in public environments, showing noticeable improvement with each outing. He is steadily becoming more comfortable around unfamiliar noises, movements, and distractions that would have once made him uneasy. Each training session is focused on desensitizing him to these triggers in a controlled and positive way, which is helping him stay calm and focused even in busier settings. As a result, his confidence is growing day by day, and it’s clear that the consistency and exposure are shaping him into a more well-rounded and reliable dog.

Training Highlights:

Day two at Lowe’s and Kane has already shown incredible progress, especially when it comes to being around adults. He’s calm, focused, and handling those distractions really well. The main challenge that still remains is his impulse control around kids, as their sudden movements and energy can be tough for him to ignore. To work through this, we’ve been practicing his off-leash commands and reinforcing consistency. He’s transitioning smoothly from being on-leash to working fully off-leash, even in the middle of public distractions, which is a huge step forward in his training. With continued practice, his confidence and impulse control will only keep improving.

Training Highlights:

Kane has officially reached a huge milestone—he’s finally off leash! His recall in public environments is becoming solid, and he’s now confidently performing all of his commands without the need for a leash. This level of focus and reliability shows just how far he’s come in his training journey. While Kane is doing an incredible job, we’re continuing to fine-tune his impulse control, especially around kids, since their quick movements and energy can still be a bit distracting for him. With consistency and practice, he’s learning how to stay calm and controlled even in those exciting moments.
