Chester – 3 Week Rehabilitation Program 🐾 Chester, a 1 year and 7 month old Australian Shepherd, has joined us at Off-Leash K9 Training Bakersfield for our 3-week Rehabilitation Program. He has been struggling with aggression toward people and other dogs, along with toy possessiveness. Over the next three weeks, we’ll be focusing on structure, clear boundaries, and building a calm, confident mindset. Stay tuned for Chester’s progress! 💪🐕

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Second day of training with Chester, we introduced light leash pressure and recall. Chester is beginning to understand how to follow leash guidance and is responding well to the new communication. We also started working on recall, helping him learn to come when called. He is showing good progress for early training, and we will continue building his confidence and consistency with both skills.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Third day of training with Chester and he did well holding duration commands. He is building great consistency and confidence with maintaining his positions for longer periods, and we will continue strengthening these skills as training progresses.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training with Chester focused on introducing the place command. Chester is beginning to learn how to go to a designated spot and remain there until released. This command is great for building impulse control, promoting calm behavior, and helping create structure and boundaries. Chester showed good understanding during his introduction and is already making nice progress. We will continue practicing and building duration and distractions as his training progresses.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training Chester did very well holding duration commands. He showed great patience and focus while maintaining his positions until released. Chester is continuing to build consistency and confidence with his obedience, and his progress is looking great. We will keep working on increasing duration and adding distractions to further strengthen his reliability.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today’s training with Chester went excellent! He did an amazing job holding the place command for over an hour, even with a dog distraction present. This is a huge accomplishment and shows impressive focus, patience, and impulse control. Chester is making outstanding progress with his duration work, and we will continue building on this success by gradually increasing distractions to further strengthen his consistency and confidence.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today we went on a walk around the block and took Chester to the gas station store. He did very well ignoring people and remained calm throughout the outing. Chester showed great focus and composure in a public setting, which is excellent progress for his overall obedience and confidence. We will continue exposing him to new environments to help strengthen his reliability and neutrality around everyday distractions.

Whether it was people, noises, or activity around the neighborhood, Chester stayed focused and maintained a nice position by my side. His engagement and responsiveness are really improving, and he’s showing more consistency with his leash manners. Proud of the progress he’s making out in real-world environments!

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS: Today we went on another field trip to the park with Chester! 🌳🐾 He did an excellent job heeling next to another dog and staying focused amidst distractions. Walking calmly alongside a dog can be challenging, especially in a stimulating environment, but Chester remained composed and attentive. He kept a nice position at heel and showed great self-control even with movement and activity around him. His neutrality and leash manners are really improving each outing. Great work today, Chester! 👏
