GHOST | CANE CORSO | DELANO, CALIFORNIA

Meet Ghost, a 10-month-old Cane Corso who has officially joined us for our three-week board and train program. Like many young, powerful working breeds, Ghost is full of energy and confidence—but without clear structure, that strength can quickly become overwhelming. His owners reached out because they feel they have little control over him right now. He jumps on guests the moment they walk through the door, pulls excessively on walks, and generally operates on his own agenda instead of looking to his handlers for direction.

Their goals are clear: they want a well-mannered, obedient companion they can confidently manage both at home and in public. That means better impulse control around visitors, structured leash manners, reliable obedience, and ultimately the ability to trust him both on and off leash. Over the next three weeks, we’ll be building a solid foundation of structure, accountability, and clarity so Ghost understands expectations and learns how to channel his drive appropriately. Stay tuned as we guide this big boy through what’s sure to be an incredible transformation.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

On our first day with Ghost, the main focus has been building the foundation of a strong relationship and developing trust. With a young and powerful breed like him, establishing clear communication early on is key. We’ve begun slowly introducing leash manners, keeping the sessions calm and structured so he can start understanding what’s expected of him without feeling overwhelmed. Ghost can be quite fearful in new environments and is sensitive to unfamiliar noises, so building trust and confidence will be a major priority throughout his training. The goal right now is to move at a pace that allows him to feel safe while still guiding him toward better habits. So far, he’s settling in really well, and it’s exciting to see the beginning of what I’m confident will be an incredible journey and transformation for him. 🐾

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

Continuing to build trust with him by introducing new experiences like working on the place command. He tends to be very anxious when approaching new doors, surfaces, or situations—something as simple as getting into my car can feel overwhelming for him. By slowing things down and guiding him through the place command, we’re helping him work through those moments of uncertainty. It’s a great confidence builder and gives him a clear task to focus on, which helps replace hesitation with trust and understanding. Over time, these small wins start to add up and make a big difference in how he navigates the world. 🐾

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

We’re continuing to build his confidence using the place cot and gradually introducing new surfaces for him to step onto and settle on. At times he can still be a little skittish or unsure, especially when something feels unfamiliar under his paws, but that’s all part of the process. With each repetition he’s learning that these new experiences are safe, and you can see his confidence growing little by little. Every successful rep helps him trust the environment more, trust the guidance he’s receiving, and ultimately become more comfortable navigating new situations.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

Ghost is making great progress and continuing to build trust in the process. Each session he’s becoming more comfortable working with me and trying new things. He’s now able to get up on different surfaces with much less hesitation, which is a big step for him considering how unsure he was in the beginning. We’re slowly seeing him come out of his shell, and with every repetition his confidence grows a little more. It’s been great to watch him start believing in himself and pushing past those initial fears. Great work, bud—keep it up. 🐾💪

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

Advancing the place command with Ghost by introducing a new training environment and a different surface to challenge his confidence and understanding. The goal is to help him generalize the command so he learns that “place” applies anywhere, not just in familiar settings. We’re also continuing to work on maintaining a structured heel throughout the session. While the heel isn’t perfect yet, he’s doing a solid job staying on my left side and staying engaged. Each rep in a new environment helps build his confidence, clarity, and overall reliability in his training.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

We continue to extend commands with Ghost, and he’s doing much better holding them with more consistency. Because he can be very attached to me, practicing these commands also helps him work through a bit of separation in a controlled and structured way. By asking him to hold positions like place or down while I create distance, he’s learning that he doesn’t need to be right next to me at all times to feel secure. These small reps build patience, confidence, and independence while still keeping clear communication between us.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

We’ve started putting all of Ghost’s commands together, and he’s doing a great job. He’s very treat-motivated, so incorporating rewards into the training has helped make the commands more fun while keeping him engaged and eager to work. Using treats strategically helps reinforce the behaviors we’re looking for and keeps his focus throughout each session. Ghost has also opened up a ton since the start of training. His confidence is growing, and he’s becoming more comfortable trying new things and working through different exercises. It’s been great to see him come out of his shell and continue making steady progress.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:
Ghost was a bit shy when meeting my dog today, which is normal for him since he can be a little skittish when introduced to new experiences. We focused on making the interaction as positive as possible by using treats and keeping the environment calm and low pressure. By motivating him and allowing him to move at his own pace, he was able to start building confidence during the introduction. Overall, it was a great first interaction and a positive step toward helping him become more comfortable around new dogs and unfamiliar situations. 🐾

Day two of working with Dante and Ghost showed some great progress. Ghost is already becoming much more confident around Dante, and you can see him starting to relax and settle into the training environment. We’re also beginning to extend the duration on his commands, asking for a little more patience and consistency from him each time. He’s responding really well and showing a lot of willingness to work, which is a great sign this early on. Overall, great work from Ghost today as he continues building confidence and improving his obedience.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

Today we took Ghost’s training to the skatepark to expose him to a more stimulating and unpredictable environment. Overall, he did very well around the kids and remained calm and respectful despite the busy setting. While he showed a bit of skittishness when the skateboards made loud trick noises and sudden sounds, he was able to work through it and stay engaged in the training. Ghost successfully completed all of his commands and continued to show great progress with his leash manners, walking calmly and attentively by my side. Experiences like this help build his confidence while reinforcing obedience in real-world situations.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS:

Ghost is making great progress managing his clingy energy and learning to be more independent. He’s becoming much more comfortable holding his commands while I move around him, which shows he’s starting to relax and trust the process instead of constantly needing to follow or stay right next to me. Each session he’s gaining more confidence and learning that he can remain calm and settled on his own. He still shows a bit of hesitation when it comes to getting in and out of the car to go places, but we’re continuing to work through that slowly and positively. Day by day he’s improving and building more confidence in new situations.
