Minnie | Toy Poodle | Pismo Beach, California

Meet Minnie, a spunky 1-year-old toy poodle who recently joined us for a two-week board and train program. While she may be pint-sized and full of charm, Minnie’s been giving her owners a run for their money. She struggles with basic obedience, tends to bark excessively, and has developed a habit of nipping at her owners when she wants attention. Despite her sassy streak, Minnie is incredibly sweet and eager to connect—she just needs a little guidance to bring out her best self. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be working on building clear communication, teaching her impulse control, and helping her find more appropriate ways to express herself. Stay tuned for her transformation—it’s going to be a fun ride!

Training Highlights:

We’ve been focusing on building Minnie’s confidence around other dogs by gradually introducing her to new canine companions in controlled settings. These introductions help her become more comfortable and social while learning how to remain calm and respectful. Alongside this, we’ve been teaching Minnie how to walk properly on a leash, reinforcing loose leash manners and ensuring she stays engaged with her handler during walks. Additionally, she’s learning the “place” command, which involves jumping onto and remaining on designated surfaces—an exercise that not only reinforces obedience but also boosts her physical coordination and mental focus.

While the “down” command still requires some extra guidance, as she can be a bit stubborn with it at times, we’re continuing to work on it patiently. Overall, Minnie is showing steady improvement and is well on her way to becoming a well-mannered companion.
